New role for Michelle Ogundehin at ELLE Decoration

Hearst UK, the publisher of ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Harper’s Bazaar, today announces a new role for ELLE Decoration’s Editor-in-Chief, Michelle Ogundehin.

Michelle Ogundehin has been appointed Editor-at-Large and Special Strategic Advisor of ELLE Decoration.

Michelle was appointed Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration UK in May 2004, consolidating a relationship with the magazine that started in 1997. Internationally renowned as an authority on style, the home and contemporary culture, Michelle led the ELLE Decoration brand to award-winning creative, consumer and commercial success during her 13-year tenure as Editor-in-Chief, says Hearst UK.

She oversaw successful brand extensions with the launch of ELLE Decoration Collections, ELLE Decoration Country and the ELLE Decoration Style Consultancy, as well as spearheading a landmark campaign to change UK copyright law. This led to debates in both Houses of Parliament and in 2016 rip-off designer classics were officially declared illegal.

In her new role, continues Hearst, Michelle will focus on the strategic development of the brand as part of the newly formed Hearst Homes division incorporating Country Living and House Beautiful, and will continue to nurture relationships with existing and new luxury clients.

Michelle Ogundehin, Editor-at-Large, ELLE Decoration, says; “ELLE Decoration has been a part of my life for twenty years and I have loved working to develop and evolve the brand during that time. I’m excited to be moving into a high-level strategic role that will allow me to drive the magazine and its brand partnerships even further.”

Sharon Douglas, Group Publishing Director, ELLE Decoration, says; “Michelle has led the magazine superbly over the past 13 years. She has achieved much over her career and is recognised as leading the way in brand extension work and notably for helping to get the law changed which is a huge step forward for the design world. We’re thrilled she is moving into this new role and will continue to value her expertise within Hearst UK.”

James Wildman, CEO, Hearst UK, says; “I am constantly impressed by the calibre of editorial staff we have at Hearst UK and Michelle is no exception. She is a highly valued member of our senior team and we look forward to her supporting the move of the ELLE Decoration brand into new territory.”
