The magazine better reflects the current state of Xbox gaming, with the introduction of a new section called Extra, which celebrates the games of the past (now playable on Xbox One) and helps readers get more from the games of the present, says Future.
The magazine will continue to give access to the biggest upcoming games, with a new Insider section that sees developers reveal the stories behind their latest work, and longer reviews to ensure readers have the greatest knowledge before purchasing a game. All delivered, say the publishers, with a contemporary look that represents the current Xbox interface.
The May issue will come with a 68-page luxury booklet listing the top 100 Xbox 360 games as voted for by the magazine's readers. Inside the magazine itself, there is a competition to win £1,000 worth of Xbox goodies. There is an interview with Phil Spencer, Aaron Greenberg and Mike Ybarra (Xbox’s senior development team) about the past, present and future of the Xbox One. Reviews include Quantum Break and find out how Halo's Arbiter came to be cracking skulls in Killer Instinct Season 3.
Matthew Castle, Editor of Official Xbox magazine, says, "Xbox One has transformed since it launched two years ago, so it's time for Official Xbox Magazine to follow suit. The team has spent the last five months designing the ultimate Xbox magazine. Our longer reviews ensure you'll never stick a stinker in your disc slot, while our Extra section shows you how to wring every drop of fun from the ones you do. The world of Xbox is a brilliant place to play at the moment – the games are varied, the fans are passionate and the plans for the future are bold. I think our new design is the perfect celebration of it all.”
