Printing Charity appoints new Trustee

Alan Thorburn, HR Director at Trinity Mirror Printing Ltd, has been elected as a Trustee by The Printing Charity.

Alan (pictured) says of his involvement with the charity for the UK printing, publishing and graphic arts industries: “The Printing Charity is a fantastic institution and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to help and to raise awareness of its work.  The industry is going through a time of great challenge and uncertainty, and the charity can make a real difference to people's lives."

Stephen Gilbert, Chief Executive of The Printing Charity, comments: “We know there are so many more people we could be helping. Involvement by industry figures like Alan is critical to letting people know we have the resources to help.”

Alan joined Trinity Mirror Plc in 2001 as an HR Director and was involved in the planning and implementation of the project to create Trinity Mirror Printing, a stand-alone division which is now one of the UK’s largest newspaper printers serving internal and external publishing customers.

Previous roles have included running apprentice programmes and NVQ schemes for General Motors and as HR Manager for GKN Westland Aerospace. Alan has also served as a Trustee of the MGN Pension Scheme for five years.
